Polk County
Custom internal software for Lakeland and Polk County
Polk County is the middle of the I-4 corridor, which makes it where a great many Florida distribution operations actually keep their inventory. Grocery and food service distribution, cold storage, building products, and the equipment rental businesses feeding constant construction all concentrate here.
Much of this is second-site operations run from headquarters somewhere else, which creates a particular problem: the systems were designed around the original location, and the Florida facility runs on exports, email and a set of reconciliation spreadsheets nobody at head office has ever seen.
What operations look like in Lakeland
Not every business here has these problems. Most have at least one, and it is usually the one nobody has time to fix because fixing it means stopping the work it holds together.
- Distribution centre coordination
- Dock appointments, outbound loads and driver scheduling coordinated by phone with no shared record, at volumes where an hour of slip costs real money.
- Cold storage and inventory position
- What is in which room, on what lot, committed to whom — reconciled weekly rather than known continuously.
- Equipment rental readiness
- Utilisation, damage and maintenance status across yards and job sites, tracked on a board, in a market where demand spikes hard after every storm.
- Second-site reconciliation
- A facility whose stock position head office trusts less than the primary site, reconciled by hand because the systems were never designed for two locations.
How we work with businesses here
Praxyt does not have an office in Lakeland. We work remotely, which for this kind of work is genuinely better: the alternative to a local firm is not a stranger on a video call, it is a stranger who drives out for a discovery meeting and bills you for the drive.
What we do instead is watch the actual work. You show us the spreadsheet, the inbox, the whiteboard — the thing your team really uses — and we tell you honestly whether software would help, and what it would cost. That is the Workflow Review, it is free, and it costs you about an hour.
If you would rather just ask a question first, that works too — nickg@praxyt.com or (831) 316-4089.
