The Yakima Valley packs and stores fruit at a scale that makes small record-keeping failures expensive. Apples, cherries, pears and hops move through packing lines, controlled-atmosphere rooms and cold storage on schedules set by biology, not by whatever your software can do.
The pattern here is consistent and specific: a packing house runs a real inventory system for the warehouse, a separate set of workbooks for packouts and grower returns, and a food safety binder that only overlaps with either at audit time. Each one is maintained by somebody who knows it well. None of them agree.
What operations look like in Yakima
